Buro looking for an experienced Chief Technology Officer/Director of Technology, that can help on journey to developing a digitally rich, industry leading tech media platform using the latest technologies. This role will establish a team structure and development methodologies to allow company to deployed software of excellence and at a pace that allows to be first to market with continuous development and progressive innovation.

Buro Global is the HQ for, with a head office in London, UK and development currently based in Moscow. The core of company product is a CMS for producing rich and engaging content globally, also known for its infrastructure and set of services for multichannel content distribution. The platform advocates action from its audience by delivering a feature set of utility tools, these features help build data and insight into how user consumer content.

You're a hands-on creative extrovert technologist with leadership skills. Your leadership style is just like Buro leadership: generally personal and leading-by-example and the whole organisation flourishes with collaboration, empowerment and low hierarchy. You're a smart doer and a non-pretentious strategic thinker who turns thoughts into action without missing a beat, bringing the team with you, with whatever solves the problem. Outside of Buro driven initiatives, you will advise on our IT infrastructure and platform architecture and will help craft the appropriate tools and third-party services required for the wider Buro team to provide extraordinary client/Licensee service.


  • 5+ years of professional experience in a senior level position within development/ technology;
  • bachelor's degree or higher in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or any field similar;
  • proficient in scripting languages and experience working with production-ready code using React-Redux and Ruby on Rails;
  • experience in resource management and leading estimations and allocation of work through to the development team;
  • experience in interviewing software developers (FrontEnd & BackEnd);
  • understanding of data and image storage concepts, data distribution, content repository across a global network, syndication and site speed;
  • self-motivated, assertive, approachable, and adaptable and have excellent communication skills (both strong written and verbal English is a must);
  • extensive experience building and owning large-scale geographically distributed backend systems.


  • as our CTO, we are looking for you to have significant experience in IT architecture across a broad range of roles and technologies. Comfortable with defining and implementing strategies by bringing others along for the journey, you'll be able to demonstrate an engaging persona to stakeholders at all levels within the business;
  • develop a global technology strategy with a focus on supporting the growth of existing platform and new client/ licensee relationships. The appropriate strategy will be designed to position Buro Global as a leading tech media business, highly commended on the features company release to market and the technologies choose to adopt;
  • using your deep knowledge on available technologies, competitors and products you will be required to lead the technical vision of the company, the technical team needed to meet business objectives and goals and pipeline needed to build a scalable tech orientated company. You will be wearing lots of hats within the organisation, promoting culture of high performance, agile methodologies and establishing sustainable yet ambitious pace of development. You will be involved in the hiring, screen, managing and progressing the tech team decided by you. You will cultivate a shared-ownership mentality and leadership capability throughout the organisation;
  • direct strategic vision for the company and anticipate, plan and act on shifts in technology;
  • manage, coach, engage and motivate the current team of 10 across the development, support and infrastructure team;
  • regularly (on agreed schedule) communicate the progress of projects to the executive team, manage the resourcing and team capacity to efficiently deliver the agreed roadmap;
  • being the point person for ideation and R&D discovery;
  • ensure the security and integrity of the Buro IT infrastructure and systems;
  • be the forefront of enabling transformative software delivery approaches, including Agile and Lean strategy execution with your unique, specialist knowledge of these models and their use in driving transformation. Be responsible to ensure these methodologies are adhered to within the team and up skilling the team where required;
  • responsible in ensuring we have exceptional SLAs and the team are delivering on agreed KPIs;
  • product and service design;
  • technical architecture and platform development;
  • data harvesting;
  • develop actionable development plan to complement the global digital strategy in collaboration with the Global Digital Director, setting out milestones and deliverables that may go on to be managed by the team;
  • drive new business opportunities within Buro Global and in collaboration with the executive team through active participation in client interactions and investor pitches;
  • provide leadership and act as a point of escalation for all development and tech related issues, provide mentorship to the wider technology team;
  • develop a recruitment and training strategy for our technology offering and advocate a culture that cultivates high performing teams and innovation;
  • sourcing of key strategic relationships with third party development houses (offshore/ onshore) and external vendors;
  • act as the technology lead for initial R&D ideation (tech validations and due diligence) and provide strategic and tactical guidance for continuous development;
  • set the direction for the team and help guide engineering vision and daily output;
  • building a service desk to aid supporting the licensee network.
